• Responsible for supporting multi-item, multi product new product development process from concept to bench top sample to full production

• Support Director of R&D to manage NPD process: prioritize sample needs, schedule production line time, acquire ingredients, formulate and manage recipes iterations, handle weekly NPD product cuttings, Maintain diligent document/documentation management, and laboratory notebook.

• Collaborate with Operations, QA, Sales & Marketing team to ensure transfer of necessary information for costing, ingredients, production batch sheets, certifications and label submissions

• Research and source new ingredients and processing aids as needed to support NPD

• Support R&D team as needed in developing existing product formulation improvements, equipment improvement, and/or cost reductions and other areas of optimization.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related degree
• 3+ years of food production experience, familiarity with core products and production equipment a significant plus
• Experience commercializing packaged food products from bench top to full scale production
• Experience sourcing ingredients/working with suppliers
• Ability to cost formulas
• Skilled communicator who can effectively collaborate with a wide variety of people at all levels of the company
• Demonstrated aptitude for developing plans and completing tasks to project deadlines
• Proficient (intermediate to advanced) in computer applications and systems including Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Able to apply nutritional information into calculations, formulations and database.

• Understanding of applicable United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) federal, state and local regulations; of General Manufacturing Practices (GMP); of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HAACP) guidelines and policies, and of Standard operating procedures (SOP)
